This is a very rare complete set of Eastman College fractional currency--all denominations including 1-, 3-, 5-, 10-, 25-, and 50-cent pieces. The first four notes (1 through 10 cents) have blank reverses and the 25- and 50-cent notes have similarly designed green reverses.

These two notes appear the same at a glance, but it isn't just the denomination that is different--the fancy design is a bit different from note to note. While Eastman never cited different series or dates of notes they seemed to thrive on making subtle and even not-so-subtle design changes periodically and from denomination to denomination. Eastman Business College opened in 1859 and over the roughly half century that followed the school issued a variety of fractional currency and changed the design several times. I have seen at least four different reverse designs on the notes while the majority were printed with blank reverses. I have also seen the reverses as shown in green also printed in orange, as well.

In at least one instance, the image on the currency was a generic woman rather than Eastman himself. In later years the notes were far less ornate and were on a paper that was not typical currency paper but something more akin to parchment. I also have listed another Eastman item I've never seen previously--an original 19th century diploma from the school.

It is massive at 16x24 inches. Finally the other remaining item is also very rare--an eastman bronze one-cent token classified as a Civil War storecard. This item is in the category "Coins & Paper Money\Paper Money: US\Fractional Currency". The seller is "thehistorybank" and is located in this country: US. This item can be shipped to United States.
