This rarecard set of 48 cards was issued in Canada by the WORLDWIDE GUM Company of Montreal Quebec Canada. While the set deals with World War l, and thus collectors often think it was issued in the 1920s, it was actually not issued until 1935 (perhaps some people felt a new war might be coming in Europe).

The back provides a description of the action shown of the front of the card written in both French & English. And has Printed in Canada on the back. The cards are similar to a Goudey set which was issued in the U. However, as Canada's population was 10% that of the U. It's logical to deduce that the Canadian version is ten times as rare.

In fact, I've only ever seen two other sets and they were not nearly as nice as this one. But, in my opinion, this set is at least EXC overall. There is naturally some age browning on a few cards but not much (please examine pics).

Creased (vg) cards that I can see are: #6,23 (water droplet stain on front), and 37. I can state confidently that you'll likely never find a nicer set for your collection. As a student of history, I have had the set in my collection for many years.

In truth this set properly belongs in the Canadian War Museum or, perhaps, to a collector who is a veteran or had a parent/grandparent in The Great War'To End All Wars'.
