2000 Gold one ounce NORFED matched medallion & certificate set VERY RARE

  
This is set #40 of a matched serial number gold one ounce specie and certificate set. There were only about 50 of these sets produced, making them very difficult to locate for the many thousands of NORFED collectors. I bought this set directly from the NORFED office in 2004. Many samples with PR000000 serial numbers exist, but these are sample pieces that were never validated as redeemable certificates.

An announcement was just made on 11/2/2017 that all of the validated NORFED certificates will once again be redeemable as of January 2018, so this certificate has at the very least the value of one ounce of gold. It's collector value is much higher. I decided NOT to send in this certificate to the courts in Statesville, NC for redemption for an ounce of gold. I thought it best to preserve it as a collectible since it is so rare.
