Prewar Lionel 763E Hudson Freight Set Very Rare Condition

  

If so, the 2812 Gondola car is missing from this set. Overall beautiful condition considering it was built in 1938 according to the contents. The loco has never been run by me and when bench tested it just hums so I left it at that.

Everything is clean and there is no rust and no damage so if running is important to you it will need cleaning and lubrication. I know that many 763 shells completely fall apart due to bad castings but this one is perfect with no swelling or cracks anywhere that I can see. The paint is very nice and glossy.

One drive wheel has a deteriorated flange but that is the only age problem I can find. All original with no replacement parts. The only wear spot on the loco is the front of the cowcatcher.

It will need to be reassembled upon arrival and that would be the time to clean and lubricate it. Locomotives like this one are too rare to throw in a box and hope for the best. The tender is marked 2263W and I have never had it apart but it is obvious from the weight the whistle motor is inside. The three cars included are a 2817 Caboose, a 2814 Boxcar, and a 2815 Tank Car. All cars show light play wear to the paint but no damage.

The included original loco box is in poor condition but the end label says 763E and it is dated 1937 but the cars included were produced with automatic couplers which were not available until the 1938 production year. Since the tender is equipped with an automatic coupler this is most likely a 1938 set with the locomotive being boxed in a box printed in 1937. I can send you more photos if needed.
